About Blue Heron
Blue Heron (aka Montville Lakes), is a residential swim and tennis community offering lakefront views, paved trails, abundant greenspace, and surrounding nature preserves in eastern Medina, Ohio (Montville Township).
Blue Heron includes roughly 150 luxury homes and 90 freestanding limited-maintenance cluster homes on the north side of Sharon Copley Rd.
Tributary streams meandering along the northern end of the site offer scenic rolling topography and walkout basements.
Train tracks run next to the east end of the community for those concerned about noise pollution.
All homes have city water and sewer.
Residences are either served by Highland Local School District or Medina City School District (specified in the sections below).

Blue Heron Amenities:
Residents enjoy Blue Heron Lakes Swim & Tennis Club facilities, which include a heated outdoor junior Olympic size swimming pool, wading pool, swimming lessons, restrooms, concessions, and two asphalt courts striped for tennis and pickleball.
The neighborhood also boasts 100+ acres of HOA-owned greenspace (yellow areas on community map below) with trails, five sizable fishing lakes, rolling meadows and colorful foliage.
Bordering the neighborhood to the north and east are 195 acres of nature preserves, which was formerly Blue Heron Golf Course. The Blue Heron Park Complex consists of three separate but adjoining parks (designated in green on above and below maps) that include outdoor fitness stations, first-class mountain bike trails with ramps and biking accouterments, a coffee shop with mountain bike and snowshoe rental, and 11+ miles of paved trails that meander through fields, streams, ravines and woodlands.
There’s also on-site dining at Blue Heron Brewery and Brewpub, an event center, and a landscaped amphitheater overlooking a pond for outdoor concerts.
Blue Heron Estates Single-Family Homes:
The 150 single-family luxury homes of Blue Heron Estates (aka Montville Lakes) were built from 2003-2022, with a few undeveloped lots as of late 2024. Homebuilders include Blossom Homes, Bridgeport Custom Homes, Greco Building Group, Legacy Homes of Medina, and Windridge Homes.
Blue Heron Estates homes range in size from 3,200-7,600 square feet with 3-5 bedrooms and 3-4.5+ bathrooms.
Being that these homes were constructed by multiple builders over nearly 20 years, amenities will vary. Common features include large laundry rooms with utility tubs and cabinets, mudrooms with cubbies, hardwood flooring, two-story foyers with turned staircases, formal dining rooms with tray ceilings, private dens and/or formal living rooms, and fireplaced two-story or vaulted great rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows that are open to enormous kitchens featuring custom cabinets, granite or quartz countertops, tile backsplash, beverage/buffet area, center island, breakfast bar seating, walk-in pantry, top-of-the-line appliances, dinette area, and even hearth rooms. Owner’s suites include trayed or vaulted ceilings, custom walk-in closets and en-suite bathrooms with tiled walk-in showers, soaking tubs, dual vanities, and enclosed lavatories. Second levels have lofts or bonus rooms. Finished lower levels (many are coveted walkouts!) are complete with media rooms, billiard areas, bars, kitchens/kitchenettes, wine cellars, and exercise rooms. Attached side-entry garages accommodate 3-4 cars.
Blue Heron Estates single-family homesites have 100′ frontage and range from 0.35 to 1.2 acres. Nearly every home abuts greenspace or parkland offering wooded, lake or meadow views.
Sensational backyards feature professionally designed gardens, patios and/or composite decks, covered or screened living areas, and fireplaces or fire pits.
There are two entrances from Sharon Copley Rd: Blue Heron Trce (main entrance) and Summer Lake Dr. Each entrance has masonry signage, with the main entrance also ornamented by a stacked stone waterfall.
In addition to its main/entrance streets, single-family homes also encompass the streets of Fawn Lake Dr, Flowering Woods Dr, Ravine Woods Dr, Wind Field Dr, Woodland View Dr, and Upland Ridge Dr.
The aforementioned streets are enhanced with sidewalks and landscaped cul-de-sac islands.
Homeowner’s Association (HOA) fees for Blue Heron Estates are approximately $500 semi-annually plus $83 monthly.
Residences are either served by the highly-rated Highland Local School District (east half) or Medina City School District (west half).
Clubhouse Pointe Cluster Homes:
Clubhouse Pointe is a single-street cul-de-sac community within Blue Heron with 20 limited-maintenance detached cluster homes at the northwest corner of Blue Heron Trce.
Clubhouse Pointe cluster homes were built from 2007-2018.
These freestanding ranch homes range in size from 1,700-3,700 square feet with 2-3 bedrooms and 2-3 bathrooms. They feature hardwood flooring, open-concept kitchen-dining-living areas, laundry rooms with utility tubs, and owner’s suites with walk-in closets and en suite bathrooms with dual sinks, walk-in showers, and jetted/soaking tubs. Finished lower levels (many are coveted walkouts!) include media rooms, exercise rooms, kitchens, bars, and wine cellars. Attached front-load garages accommodate 2-3 cars.
Outdoor living is enhanced with composite decks and/or custom patios.
Roughly half of this community has wooded backyards.
Clubhouse Pointe clusters are conveniently located at the northwest corner of the Blue Heron community, adjacent to the brewery/brewpub and pool.
These cluster homes comprise the cul-de-sac street of Clubhouse Pointe Dr, which is accessible off the north side of Blue Heron Trce.
The entrance is flanked on the right side by landscaping with signage suspended on iron fencing between brick pillars.
There are no sidewalks along Clubhouse Pointe Dr. However, access to the paved walking trails are directly across the street from Clubhouse Pointe Dr.
The cul-de-sac is enhanced with a landscaped island and parking pad for visiting cars.
Post is delivered to the cluster mailboxes located next to the parking pad near the entrance.
HOA fees are approximately $83 monthly for the recreation facilities plus $1,125 semi-annually for lawn care and snow removal.
Clubhouse Pointe residences are served by the highly-rated Medina City School District.
Lookout Pointe Cluster Homes:
Lookout Pointe is a Blue Heron community of 53 limited-maintenance detached cluster homes occupying the streets of Meadow Lake Dr, Mint Hill Dr and Woodlark Trl.
These cluster homes were built from 2003-2019.
Floorplans include colonials, cape cods and ranches ranging in size from 2,300-4,800 square feet with 3-4 bedrooms and 2.5-4 bathrooms.
Inside, the freestanding cluster homes of Lookout Pointe feature hardwood flooring, mudrooms with cubbies, laundry rooms with utility tubs, private studies, and second-floor lofts. Great rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows are open to kitchens with granite countertops, center island, breakfast bar seating, and dinette area/morning rooms. Trayed or vaulted ceiling owner’s suites with walk-in closets have en suite bathrooms with dual sinks, walk-in showers, and jetted/soaking tubs. Finished lower levels (many are coveted walkouts!) include media rooms, exercise rooms, kitchens/kitchenettes, and bars. Attached front-load garages accommodate 2 cars.
Backyards offer screened or covered porches, composite decks and/or patios.

The Villas at Blue Heron is a new construction community of 17 custom-built detached cluster homes along the southeastern end of Blue Heron, encompassing the cul-de-sac street of Grey Heron Dr.
The Villas at Blue Heron cluster homes are being built by Drees Homes. Construction began in 2023. This is the final phase of development in Blue Heron.
Drees Homes is offering six ranch and two-story floorplans ranging from 1,365-2,259+ square feet with 3-4 bedrooms and 2-3.5 bathrooms.
Inside, Villas of Blue Heron cluster homes feature designated foyers, garage entry mud halls, LVP flooring, private dens/flex rooms, and great rooms that open to kitchens with granite or quartz countertops, a center island with breakfast bar, pantry, and dining area. Local outdoor recreation amenities are plentiful! You’re 8 min to Oenslager Nature Center at Alderfer-Chatfield Wildlife Sanctuary with five trails totaling close to three miles. It’s 10 min to Carolyn Ludwig Mugrage Park with green space, two miles of trails, a large playground, fishing pond, and a spacious fenced dog run. Lake Medina is 12 min away for hiking, fishing, canoeing, and cross-country skiing. The 150-acre Granger Wetlands Wildlife Sanctuary is a 15 min drive. The Cleveland Metroparks’ Hinckley Reservation is 20 min away with 2,803 acres including twenty miles of all-purpose trails, bridle trails, a 90-acre lake (Hinckley Lake) with a boathouse for water sport rentals, a beach, swimming pool, two smaller fishing ponds also used for ice fishing and skating come winter, stone carvings at Worden’s Ledges, and its most notable feature–the porous sandstone outcroppings of Whipp’s Ledges. Hinckley Reservation is also home to the annual festival known as Buzzard’s Day, which celebrates the return of the turkey vulture to the area around mid-March. The 33,000-acre Cuyahoga Valley National Park, which includes the Cuyahoga River and numerous waterfalls, the 87-mile Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail, and the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad is 24 min away. Richfield Heritage Preserve is also 24 min away, offering 336 wooded acres with hiking trails that include a portion of the Buckeye Trail, winding streams, two lakes for fishing and non-motorized watersports, and a horse barn with five miles of bridle trails. Bath Nature Preserve is a 26 min drive with hiking and equestrian trails, two ponds for catch-and-release fishing, sled riding, and cross country skiing.
Golfers have access to an array of courses in 20 minutes or less including Hinckley Hills, Ironwood, Pine Hills, Pine Valley, Pleasant Valley, Rawiga Golf Club, and Ridge Top.
