About Lake Medina Park
Lake Medina is the largest lake in the Rocky River Watershed. The 103-acre reservoir was created by impounding a portion of the South Branch of the Rocky River near where it enters the West Branch. The lake served as Medina’s municipal water source from the early 1960s until 2002 when it was leased to the park district.
Lake Medina Park is a peaceful oasis that allows fishing and non-motorized boating and water sports (canoes, kayaks, paddle boards). With minimal churning and limited ingress/egress preventing upstream pollution, the lake remains clear and healthy. Its crystal clear waters are surrounded by lush greenery in the summer and a splendor of fiery foliage come autumn. Public access to the lake is available from Granger Rd, Medina Rd, and the Foote/Weymouth Rd intersection.
Along the west side of the lake is a forested park and two trails (a 1.08-mile gravel trail follows the western shoreline; a 1.4-mile asphalt trail meanders along the West Branch of the Rocky River, crossing the river twice with bridges and boardwalks, and connects to the city of Medina’s paved trail along Reagan Parkway). The residential properties of Lake Medina Reserve occupy its eastern shores.
