About Columbia Station Ohio

Columbia Station, also known as Columbia Township, is located in Lorain County Ohio roughly 24 miles (30 minutes) southwest of downtown Cleveland. It is the easternmost of Lorain County‘s eighteen townships.

Surrounding suburbs include Olmsted Township, Olmsted Falls, Berea, Strongsville, Brunswick Hills, Liverpool Township, Grafton Township, Eaton Township, and North Ridgeville.

Founded in 1807, Columbia was the first continuously inhabited settlement in Lorain County.

Today, with a population of roughly 7,300, Columbia Station is a somewhat small town offering residents a quiet rural country atmosphere. It is a close-knit, traditional community with a comfortable hometown feel.

Columbia Station is a great location for families looking for a good community to raise children. It offers an enviable combination of low taxes (no RITA!), very low crime, good schools (Columbia Local School District), college-educated residents who tend to support education, and a high rate of homeownership in predominantly single-family properties.

While shopping, dining, and entertainment options within the city are limited, there is a plethora of commerce in neighboring cities like Strongsville (15 min to Southpark Mall) and North Olmsted (18 min to Great Northern Mall).

With only minutes to I-71 and I-80, commuting is easy. Cleveland Hopkins International Airport is about 20 minutes away.

We’ve listed a few of our favorite details about Columbia Station below.
