Richfield Ohio offers abundant options for outdoor recreation. The village has two community parks: Richfield Woods Park (ballfields, a stocked pond, and pavilions) and the Carter-Pedigo Hiking Trails (1.25 wooded miles with steps up and down ravines, and bridges). There are also two nature preserves: Eastwood Preserve has hiking trails, fishing, and a community garden; Richfield Heritage Preserve is a 336-acre hidden treasure offering 336 wooded acres with hiking trails that include a portion of the Buckeye Trail, winding streams, two lakes for fishing and non-motorized watersports, and a horse barn with five miles of bridle trails. At the northeast corner is Summit Metro Parks’ Furnace Run with 3.5 miles of trails, a fishing lake, streams, and pavilions.

To the west is Cleveland Metroparks’ Hinckley Reservation with 2,803 acres including twenty miles of all-purpose trails, bridle trails, a 90-acre lake (Hinckley Lake) with a boathouse for water sport rentals, a beach, swimming pool, two smaller fishing ponds also used for ice fishing and skating come winter, stone carvings at Worden’s Ledges, and its most notable feature–the porous sandstone outcroppings of Whipp’s Ledges. As far as dining, a local favorite is Whitey’s for its famous chili and laid-back atmosphere (Note: cash only!). Teschner’s Tavern is also a long-time institution in Richfield serving up awesome burgers and pub food (get a side of green beans with bacon). A new favorite is Olesia’s Taverne of Richfield, a fine dining restaurant featuring eastern European dishes (we love the salo platter, pelmini with vinegar, short rib crepes, and the house burger), an exquisitely restored grand ballroom, and a prohibition-style speakeasy centered in the historic district of the Village of Richfield.
