About Cornerstone in Westlake
Cornerstone is an exquisite community of roughly 60 custom-built luxury homes along the eastern section of Westlake, Ohio located off the west side of Walter Rd, between Center Ridge and Westwood Roads.
Homes were constructed by custom builders including Valore, Kanareff, and Petros from 1997-2018. As of late 2024, there were a few lots yet undeveloped.
These magnificent colonial homes range in size from 3,100-8,800+ square feet, with 3-5 bedrooms and 3.5-7 bathrooms.
This is certainly not your typical mass-produced cookie-cutter community! Each Cornerstone home was individually designed. Most facades are traditionally styled as stately full-brick and/or stone, with several homes having rare full-brick exteriors. There are also some lovely Tudor and French country designs incorporating a combination of vinyl or stucco with brick or stone.
Cornerstone’s elegant colonial homes were built with the absolute highest quality materials and craftsmanship, loaded with extravagant premium finishes and amenities including hardwood floors, marble and travertine flooring, custom architectural millwork, solid-core doors, top-of-the-line appliances and fixtures, zoned temperature control, air purification systems, and tankless hot water heaters. Principle rooms include laundry rooms with utility tubs and cabinets, mudrooms, grand two-story foyers with curved staircases, formal dining rooms with tray ceilings, and two-story great rooms that are open to enormous kitchens with granite or quartz countertops, custom-made furniture-grade cabinetry, walk-in pantries, butler’s pantries, and dinettes. Large owner’s suites include tray or vaulted ceilings, walk-in closets with built-ins, and en-suite bathrooms with dual sinks/vanities, tiled walk-in showers, soaking/jetted tubs, and enclosed commodes. Finished lower levels feature home theaters, dinettes, bars, billiards rooms, and a separate stairwell to the garage. Oversized side-entry garages accommodate 3-4 cars. A number of homes also have circular drives for guest parking and unobstructed garage access.
Homesites are sized from 0.39 to 1.05 acres, some with treed backyards.
Backyards feature lush gardens surrounding an outdoor entertaining oasis with custom paver patios, covered living areas, fireplaces and kitchens. Backyard privacy is granted by mature trees and/or pines. Some homes have their own private pools.
Several homes along the northwest corner of the development have a particularly serene view of a sprawling fountained pond.
The entrance to Cornerstone from Walter Road has a divided median with landscaping and masonry signage. Mature trees continue along both sides of the street through the entrance.
In addition to the entrance main street of Cornerstone, the community also comprises the cul-de-sacs streets of Stone’s Throw, Fortune Trail, Annie Ln, the cul-de-sac of Brantwood Dr, and three homes on Walter Rd (house numbers 2404, 2418 & 2432).
Brantwood Dr is not directly connected to the main subdivision. Brantwood Dr homes are located at the end of an established residential street, accessible from Westwood Rd.
This community has lantern-style streetlights, curbs and sidewalks.
All cul-de-sacs have landscaped islands, enhancing the streetscape and offering lush views to surrounding homes.
Cornerstone Homeowner’s Association (HOA) fees are approximately $530 annually.
Cornerstone street is connected to the neighboring community of Westminster via Hedgewood Way, which has its own entrance off Walter Rd.
To the west is the luxury cluster home community of Chapparal.

Location & Nearby Amenities
The development of Cornerstone in Westlake, Ohio is located off the west side of Walter Rd, equidistant between Center Ridge and Westwood Roads. This easternmost section of Westlake that borders Rocky River offers the trifecta of quick access to I-90, local retail, and numerous nearby parks.
The community is ideally situated 1.5 miles south of I-90 – far enough away to evade interstate congestion and traffic noise, but still accessible in 5 minutes.
Cornerstone is just 10 minutes from Crocker Park—the best shopping on the west side of Cleveland—a 75-acre, open-air collection of restaurants, retail, entertainment & leisure. Additional retail and dining is available at Westwood Shopping Plaza and Westgate Shopping Center (6 min), Great Northern (9 min), and Avon Commons (13 min).
As for nearby parks, there are several. Tri-City (5 min) has ball fields/courses, picnic pavilion, playground, and restroom facilities. Clague Park (4 min), which hosts the city’s 4th of July fireworks display, has ball fields/courts, picnic pavilions, walking trails, and a duck pond. The new Westlake Aquatic Center is also located in Clague Park. It offers five bodies of water for all ages: slide plunge pool, lazy river, activity pool, splash pad, and the main pool with diving board, climbing wall and lap area.
The Metroparks’ Rocky River Reservation is just 9 minutes away, offering 2,520 acres with picnic areas, play areas, sledding hills, ball fields, nature trails, paved trails, nature center, stables and bridle trails, marina, fishing areas, boat rentals, waterfalls and lagoons, and three golf courses.

There are several clubs nearby: Lakewood Country Club (12 min), and Avon Oaks Country Club (13 min).
Boaters will feel right at home at The Cleveland Yachting Club (CYC) – one of the oldest and most prestigious yachting clubs in the nation. Home to more than 300 sail and powerboats, CYC is known for its beautiful setting, first-class facilities and family-friendly atmosphere. CYC is located on its own island at the mouth of Rocky River, nine miles west of downtown Cleveland.
