Woods of Western Reserve in Hudson
Woods of Western Reserve is a community with roughly 136 homes in northeastern Hudson Ohio near a neighborhood park.
Homes were constructed from 1986-1991 by builders including Ken Payne. Most homes have since been updated.
Facades are styled as Georgian, Tudor, New England, Greek revival, and contemporary styles. Most front elevations are full vinyl but there are some partial or full brick fronts.
The majority of homes are colonial, but there are some ranch. Homes range in size from 2,400-5,100 square feet with 4-5 bedrooms and 2.5-4.5 bathrooms.
Homes are appointed with desirable amenities including two-story foyers with open staircases, hardwood flooring, formal dining rooms, formal living rooms and/or private dens with built-ins, and laundry rooms with utility tubs and cabinets. Vaulted or two-story great rooms with fireplaces and large windows are open to granite or quartz kitchens featuring a center island, breakfast bar seating, tile backsplash, walk-in pantry, dinette area, and sunroom or screened porch. Vaulted owner’s suites (most are second floor) include sitting areas, walk-in closets, and en-suite bathrooms with tiled walk-in showers, soaking tubs, dual sinks/vanities, and enclosed lavatories. Full finished lower levels (a few are coveted walkouts!) are complete with theater or media rooms, kitchenettes, bars, exercise rooms, and storage areas. Homes offer attached 2-3 car side-entry garages for maximum curb appeal.
Backyards feature patios and/or composite decks, covered living areas, pergolas or gazebos, fireplaces or fire pits, and water features.
Homesites mainly range from .67 to 1.6 acres. There are also a few lots over 2 acres. Nearly each offers a heavily wooded backyard for maximum privacy.
The 60-acre Darrow Road Park is just north of this community, with five homes abutting its forest. Nature and fitness enthusiasts will appreciate its 1.25-mile walking trail. An entrance to the trail is off Lascala Dr across from its intersection with Leeway Dr, which is about a 10 min walk.
While there are no direct entrances from the main road into Woods of Western Reserve, it is accessible through neighboring subdivisions: via Herrick Park Dr from Hudson Aurora Rd; via Lascala Dr through Country Club Estates; and via Herrick Park Dr (through Western Reserve Park) from Darrow Rd.
Woods of Western Reserve also encompasses some homes on Herrick Park Dr, three homes on Lascala Dr, and all homes upon Benjamin Cir, Herrick Cir, Jesse Dr, Jonathan Cir, Jonathan Dr, Kate Dr, Kate Cir, Kate Ct, and Samson Cir.
The majority of this community does not have curbs or sidewalks. There is, however, a sidewalk on one side of Herrick Park Dr that extends from Hudson Aurora Rd to Lascala Dr.
Residences have public sewer and public water.
There are no mandatory Homeowner’s Association (HOA) fees at Woods of Western Reserve.
This neighborhood is serviced by the nationally acclaimed Hudson City School District. It is in proximity to Hudson High School, Middle School, and Elementary (all within a 6 min drive).
A number of nearby private schools also serve the community, including Western Reserve Academy (grades 9-12), Seton Catholic School (K-8), and Hudson Montessori School (preschool-8th grade) — each located in Hudson; Old Trail School (preschool-8th grade) in Fairlawn; and Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy (grades 7-12) in Cuyahoga Falls.

The subdivision of Woods of Western Reserve is located in northern Hudson Ohio (Summit County) between Hudson Aurora and Darrow roads, just north of I-80/OH-Turnpike.
Highways are accessible in 8 min to I-80/Turnpike, 9 min to I-480, 13 min to I-271.
Close proximity to Hudson City Schools (all within a 6 min drive), as well as other local private schools, means transporting the kids to school will be a breeze.
It’s a 7 min drive to First & Main in downtown Hudson, an upscale retail district with national chain stores along with locally-owned shops and restaurants. First & Main is also home to more than a dozen annual events in the park-like square.
LifeCenter Plus is 10 min away, Hudson’s full-service four-season health and fitness facility with strength-training and cardio equipment, five pools including a warm water therapy pool plus an outdoor aquatic center, an indoor track, rock climbing wall, racquetball and pickleball courts, as well as cycling, pilates, yoga and Tai Chi studios.
About 8 min away is Hudson Springs Park with 260 acres, a 50-acre stocked lake for fishing or boating, 2.2 miles of shaded trails encircling the water, picnic pavilions, a disk golf course, horseshoe courts, volleyball courts, bocce ball court, and a playground.
You are 10 min from Summit Bike and Hike Trail (Barlow & Terex Trailhead), which offers 34 miles past the Cuyahoga Valley National Forest and through Summit, Cuyahoga and Portage counties.
The 33,000-acre Cuyahoga Valley National Park is just 12 min away, which includes the Cuyahoga River and numerous waterfalls, the 87-mile Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail, and the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad.
Golfers are only 10 min from the city-owned golf club, Ellsworth Meadows. If you’re looking for social membership and golf, you’re 5 min to Hudson Country Club and 10 min to Lake Forest Country Club.
Boston Mills and Brandywine Ski Resorts are an 18 min drive for skiing and tubing during the winter months.
