About Western Reserve Ranch Estates in Hudson

Western Reserve Ranch Estates, in northeastern Hudson Ohio, is a wooded community of roughly 100 homes adjacent to parkland.

Homes were constructed from 1941-1974 and have since been updated or renovated.

These colonial, cape cod, and ranch homes range in size from 2,100-5,400 square feet with 3-5 bedrooms and 2.5-4 bathrooms.

Western Reserve Ranch Estates homes are appointed with hardwood flooring, foyers with coat closets, first-floor laundry rooms with utility tubs and cabinets, formal dining rooms, formal living rooms with fireplaces, private dens, fireplaced great rooms, a sunroom or screened porch, and kitchens featuring granite or quartz countertops, breakfast bar seating, tile backsplash, and dinette area. Owner’s suites (second floor in most colonials/cape cods) include walk-in closets, and en-suite bathrooms. Full finished lower levels are complete with media rooms, bars, exercise rooms, and storage areas. A few homes have detached garages, but most offer attached 2-3 car side or rear-entry garages.

Residences have public sewer and well water.

Backyards feature lush landscape beds, paver patios and/or composite decks, pergolas or gazebos, and fireplaces or fire pits.

Lightly to heavily treed homesites mainly range from .75 to 2.9 acres.

The eastern end of the community abuts 52 wooded acres of High Point Park owned by the city of Hudson, offering a secluded sylvan setting with endless views of nature (parkland is designated in green on above map). As a “passive park” it remains undisturbed other than nature trails that meander through the woods with a wooden pedestrian bridge and a remnant fireplace from an old cottage. The park’s entrance is off Middleton Rd.

There are five entrances to Western Reserve Ranch Estates: via Red Fox Trail from Middleton Rd; Huntington Rd from either Middleton Rd or Hudson Aurora Rd; and via Woodbridge Rd or Pioneer Trail from Stow Rd.

This development also encompasses the streets of Deerpath Trl, Sugarbush Trl, and a number of homes on Hudson Aurora Rd, Stow Rd and Middleton Rd.

Like many of Hudson’s subdivisions, there are no curbs or sidewalks.

There are utility poles throughout this community.

There are no Homeowner’s Association (HOA) fees at Western Reserve Ranch Estates.

Other nearby communities include Crown Point (to the east), and White Horse Acres, Dillman Estates, and Stonebridge of Hudson (all to the south).

Location Details

The subdivision of Western Reserve Ranch Estates is located in northeastern Hudson Ohio (Summit County) between Hudson Aurora Rd, Stow Rd, and Middleton Rd.

Highways are accessible in 5 min to I-480, 6 min to I-80/Turnpike, and 15 min to I-271.

This neighborhood is serviced by the nationally acclaimed Hudson City School District. Ellsworth Hill Elementary is conveniently across the street at the corner of Middleton and Stow roads. The High School is a 4 min drive or less; the main school campus (Early Learning, Intermediate, and Middle School) is within a 6 min drive.

A number of nearby private schools also serve the community, including Western Reserve Academy (grades 9-12), Seton Catholic School (K-8), and Hudson Montessori School (preschool-8th grade) — each located in Hudson; Old Trail School (preschool-8th grade) in Fairlawn; and Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy (grades 7-12) in Cuyahoga Falls.

It’s a 6 min drive to First & Main in downtown Hudson, an upscale retail district with national chain stores along with locally-owned shops and restaurants. First & Main is also home to more than a dozen annual events in the park-like square.

Shoppers will appreciate being 10 min from Aurora Farms Premium Outlets with 90 outlet stores of the finest brands including Adidas, Ann Taylor, Chico’s, Coach, Kate Spade, Michael Kors, New Balance, Nike, Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5TH, Under Armour, Yankee Candle and many more.

LifeCenter Plus is 12 min away, Hudson’s full-service four-season health and fitness facility with strength-training and cardio equipment, five pools including a warm water therapy pool plus an outdoor aquatic center, an indoor track, rock climbing wall, racquetball and pickleball courts, as well as cycling, pilates, yoga and Tai Chi studios.

Just 5 min away is the 260-acre Hudson Springs Park, offering a 50-acre stocked lake for fishing or boating, 2.2 miles of shaded trails, picnic pavilions, disk golf course, horseshoe courts, volleyball courts, bocce ball court, children’s hedge maze, and a playground.

You are 10 min from Summit Bike and Hike Trail (Silver Springs Trailhead), which offers 34 miles of trails past the Cuyahoga Valley National Forest and through Summit, Cuyahoga and Portage counties.

The 33,000-acre Cuyahoga Valley National Park is just 13 min away, which includes the Cuyahoga River and numerous waterfalls, the 87-mile Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail, and the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad.

Golfers are only 12 min from the city-owned golf club, Ellsworth Meadows. If you’re looking for social membership and golf, it’s 5 min to Hudson Country Club and 11 min to Lake Forest Country Club.

Boston Mills and Brandywine Ski Resorts are a 19 min drive for skiing and tubing during the winter months.

An outdoor concert at Blossom Music Center is 25 min away.
