The Woods of Strongsville (aka The Woods or Drake Estates) is a community of 267 single-family homes and limited-maintenance townhomes in Strongsville, Ohio with a playground, tennis & pickleball courts, soccer field, and a neighborhood elementary school.
NOTE: This page describes the 179 single-family homes only.
This subdivision is located off the west side of Pearl Rd, 0.3 miles south of Drake Rd. Single-family homes comprise the streets of Blue Spruce Dr, Ellsworth Dr, Hazen Dr, Lyon Ln, Northrup Ln, Oliver Dr, the majority of Elm Dr (house numbers 19462-19654), most of Martins Ln (up to house number 18572), thirteen homes on Walnut Dr (house numbers 18403-18759), and six homes on Whitemarsh Ln.


Most single-family homes were constructed by Pulte Homes from 1992-1997. These 2-story homes range from 2,500-4,300 square feet with 3-4 bedrooms and 2.5-3.5 bathrooms.
The final 8 homes along the southern ends of Whitemarsh Ln and Martins Ln (sometimes referred to as Houston Subdivision), were constructed between 2001-2002 by Houston Dev Ltd and Robert James Homes. These 2-story homes range from 3,100-6,700 square feet with 4-5 bedrooms and 2.5-4 bathrooms.
Facades are traditionally styled with full or partial brick/stone.
Inside, The Woods of Strongsville single-family homes have LVP flooring, 9′ first-floor ceilings, dramatic two-story foyers with open turned staircases, private dens and/or flex rooms (playroom, office or living room), formal dining rooms, and fireplaced great rooms that open to and kitchens featuring granite or quartz countertops, tile backsplash, center islands with pendant lights and breakfast bars, walk-in pantry, and dining area. Second-floor owner’s suites (some with tray ceilings) offer walk-in closets and en-suite bathrooms with soaking jetted tub and/or tiled walk-in showers, dual sink vanities, and enclosed commodes. First or second floor laundry rooms with utility tubs. Full finished lower levels include media rooms, bars and exercise rooms.
Front or side-entry garages accommodate 2-3 cars.
Backyards include patios and/or composite decks. Most lots have treed backyards.
Homesites measure approximately 80-90′ wide and primarily range from 0.31 to 0.38 acres. There are some larger lots up to 0.74 acres, primarily around the cul-de-sac streets of Blue Spruce Dr, Hazen Dr, Lyon Ln, Northrup Ln, and Oliver Dr.

Some homes abut a portion of HOA-owned common space totaling 9.29 acres (yellow areas within the red border on above-illustrated map), offering treed or meadow views. The tennis/pickleball courts and playground are near the east end of Ellsworth Dr. The soccer field is located near the west end of Ellsworth Dr.
Yellow areas outside the red border are greenspace belonging to a neighboring community.

The entrance to Ellsworth Dr has a divided median with landscaping and brick signage.
This neighborhood is also accessible through the adjoining communities of Fieldstone Preserve from Pearl Rd and Waterford Crossing from Drake, Boston and Prospect Roads.
The neighboring development of Fieldstone Preserve recently added massive detention basins to deter stormwater flooding previously affecting the area.
NOTE: A City of Cleveland water treatment facility is located at 18640 Pearl Rd near the southeast corner of the subdivision.
Residences are served by Strongsville City School District. NOTE: All streets in this development are non-bussing streets to Kinsner Elementary School, which is bikable in ≤6 min through the adjoining community to the southwest.
Homeowner’s Association (HOA) fees at The Woods of Strongsville are approximately $335 annually. Link to HOA website.
This family-friendly community gets together for annual events including an Easter Egg Hunt, a Fourth of July bike parade, summer cookouts, a Turkey Trot, and adult evenings out.

The Woods of Strongsville is located in southwest Strongsville near the border of Brunswick, off the west side of Pearl Rd, 0.3 miles south of Drake Rd.
Highways are accessible in 9 min to I-71 and 12 min to I-80/Turnpike.
Strongsville’s bustling retail sector and SouthPark Mall are a 9 min drive.
The Strongsville Recreation and Senior Center is an 8 min drive, offering residents a pool, sauna, steam room and whirlpool, massage therapy, ball courts, indoor elevated track, weight and exercise room, and game area with pool tables, ping pong, video games, air hockey and more.
As for parks, Strongsville has nine city parks with ball courts/fields, playgrounds, picnic areas, pavilions, and trails.
The 46-acre Princess Ledges Nature Preserve is 6 min south, which has 1.5 miles of wooded nature trails with sandstone ledges.
You are 11 min from Brunswick Lake Park with a large fishing lake, a half-mile wooded nature trail, and half-mile paved trail, and a nature center.
Cleveland Metroparks’ Mill Stream Run Reservation is also 11 min away where visitors can engage in hiking, horseback riding, archery, ziplining, axe throwing, and tobogganing.
Mapleside Farms is a 4 min drive for music concerts, breakfast with Santa, and their family-friendly Pumpkin Village with attractions including an apple orchard, pumpkin patch, 7-acre corn maze, hayrides, super slide, giant jump pillows, petting zoo, pig races, pedal car track, food, live performances and music.
Golfers are conveniently 9-15 min from Royal Crest, Pine Hills, Coppertop, Bunker Hill, Columbia Hills, Shale Creek, and Valleaire.
