Forest Park Homes
About Forest Park in Strongsville
Forest Park is a wooded swim and tennis community abutting the Metroparks in downtown Strongsville Ohio. This neighborhood includes approximately 170 single-family homes.
With the exception of Timber Edge Pl cul-de-sac homes (built by Sweet Briar Homes from 2003-2020), homes were constructed by the renowned, award-winning developer/home builder, Bob Schmitt, between 1970-1977, many of which have since been updated.
Forest Park homes offer traditional or contemporary styles with Schmitt’s signature vertical cedar paneling.
Homes include ranch, split-level, and colonial floorplans that mainly range from 1,600-2,700 square feet with 3-5 bedrooms and 2.5-3.5 bathrooms.
A pioneer in energy-efficient building, some homes are all electric (heat pumps, electric stoves, electric fireplaces).
Common features include post-and-beam construction, hardwood or LVP flooring, tile flooring, main-floor laundry rooms with cabinets and utility tubs, open-concept living rooms and formal dining areas, bonus/family rooms, numerous fireplaces, and oversized windows and/or double-wide sliding glass doors along the back of the home that welcome light and unhindered views of backyard foliage. Sleeping quarters are separated from the main living areas for added privacy. Owner’s suites have walk-in closets and en-suite bathrooms soaking/jetted tubs and/or walk-in showers, and dual sink vanities.
Most homes are slab-on-ground, but there are some homes with basements. Garages, either front or side-entry, accommodate 2 cars.
Homesites generally range from .31 to .46 acres, but there are some larger lots up to 1.36 acres.
Backyards are appointed with multi-tiered decks, covered or screened porches, and/or patios.
During development, Bob Schmitt would attempt to preserve as many mature trees as possible. As such, nearly every Forest Park home has lightly treed to wooded yards, attracting songbirds and enhancing privacy, tranquil nature views, and shade for significantly cooler al fresco enjoyment on hot summer days.
Much of the southwest side of the community offers deeply ravined topography for spectacular views.
Bob Schmitt’s developments also include large common areas with recreation amenities. Forest Park residents enjoy a clubhouse, Olympic-sized swimming pool, wading pool, tennis court, half-basketball court, sand volleyball court, pickle ball court, and play structure located at 11610 Park Moss Ave (large yellow parcel on above map). The community has a swim team for kids and teens.
Children and adults alike benefit from an array of community social events throughout the year, fostering family togetherness.
Equestrian lovers will appreciate having several horse stables near the community entrance on Handle Rd with access to the Metroparks’ bridle trails on Valley Parkway.
There are two entrances: Forest Park Dr off Handle Rd, and High Point off Webster Rd. The main entrance of Forest Park Dr has a long divided median with landscaping and masonry signage. The median continues along the entire length of the street.
In addition to the main/entrance streets of Forest Park Dr and High Point, homes also occupy the streets of Circle Ridge, Emerald Edge Pl, Forest Point Pl, Park Moss Ave, Park Point, Pine Tree Pl, Pleasant Ridge Pl, Point Overlook Pl, and Timber Edge Pl.
All streets have curbs and sidewalks on both sides of the street.
Residences are served by Strongsville City Schools.
Homeowner’s Association (HOA) fees at Forest Park are approximately $515 annually.
It is connected to the east by The Ledges of Avery Walden cluster homes.
