About Co-Moor Colony in Strongsville
Co-Moor Colony is a heavily wooded community of cluster homes and single-family homes with a neighborhood swimming pool, located in northwest Strongsville Ohio, near the Metroparks, at the intersection of Albion Rd and Eastland Rd.
NOTE: This page describes single-family homes only. Townhouses are grayed-out on the map below.
Read on for comprehensive information about this subdivision and its single-family homes, lots, flood information, community amenities, HOA fees, location, nearby conveniences, driving distances, and recent sales.
The roughly 200 single-family homes of Co-Moor Colony were mainly constructed by Fannin Builders between 1954-1987. Many homes have since been updated.
Homes include colonial, split-level, bi-level, and ranch styles that range from a modest 1,900 square feet up to 5,300 square feet with 3-5 bedrooms and 2-4 bathrooms.
Facades include traditional and contemporary styles, many with vertical cedar paneling.
First floors feature hardwood or LVP flooring, two-story foyers with open staircases, laundry rooms with utility tubs, formal dining rooms & living rooms (some are open-concept), and fireplaced family rooms (some have skylights and vaulted or beamed ceilings), and kitchens with dinette area and pantry. Owner’s suites have walk-in closets and en-suite bathrooms with soaking/jetted tubs and/or walk-in showers. Some homes have slab foundation. Those with full finished lower levels (many are coveted walkouts!) offer media rooms, bars, and workout rooms. Front or side-entry garages accommodate 2-3 cars.
Homesites range from 0.30 to 1.31 acres, with an average lot size of 0.46 acres.
Heavily wooded backyards and side yards attract songbirds and offer natural privacy, shade, and significantly cooler al fresco entertaining on hot summer days.
Outdoor living is enhanced by multi-level decks and/or custom patios.
The verdant landscape is complimented by hardscape elements like stone pavers, pebble footpaths, stepping stones, boulders, and retention walls of railway ties or stone.
Albion Rd runs east-west, which separates Co-Moor Colony into north and south sections, as detailed in the excerpts below.
Co-Moor Colony North Section:
Homes on the north side of Albion Rd were built on a former horse farm, Co-Moor Farms. See the farm property here.
To pay homage to the origin of the property, the subdivision was named after the horse farm, and two streets were named after its owner, Jerry Coe, and its National Champion Saddlebred, King Coe.
The north section of Co-Moor Colony comprises three unconnected subdivisions with cul-de-sac streets that abut the lush forest of the Metroparks Mill Stream Run Reservation (green area on map) for enhanced privacy and endless wooded views.
King Coe Ln and Jerry Coe Ln are off Albion Rd. Tanbark Ln and Hickory Pl are accessible from Eastland Rd.
Homes were built beginning in 1955, starting on King Coe Ln and Jerry Coe Ln, followed by homes on Albion Rd (even house numbers 19790-19482), Tanbark Ln, and Hickory Pl. By 1967, construction was essentially complete.
These streets have above-ground power lines along one side of the street. There are no sidewalks.
The East Branch Rocky River runs just beyond the north end, and a tributary stream meanders between Tanbark Ln and Jerry Coe Ln, enhancing the natural setting with picturesque ravined topography. View FEMA Flood Map.
Co-Moor Colony South Section:
The entrance street to the main community on the south side of Albion Rd, Idlewood Trail, is accessible from both Albion and Pearl roads. Its entrance from Pearl Rd has a long divided median with landscaping, brick pillar signage, garden stones, and antique-style street lights.
In addition to Idlewood Trl, the main community’s single-family homes also encompass the streets of Deer Run Ln, Fawn Meadow Ln, Great Oaks Ln, Hawthorn Ln, Hawthorn Trl, Hawthorne Trl, Ivywood Trl, Tawny Brook Ln, Trillium Trl, and 18 homes on Albion Rd (odd house numbers 19447-20117).
These streets have underground utility lines, street trees, curbs, and sidewalks.
Homes in the main/south section were built beginning in the late 1960s.
Some homes in the south/main community abut common area owned by Co-Moor Recreation Club or townhouse sub-associations (yellow parcels on above map).
Blodgett Creek, a Rocky River West Branch tributary, and a stream within the Rocky River East Branch watershed intersect the community, offering scenic rolling topography. View FEMA Flood Map.
Co-Moor Colony Amenities:
Neighborhood amenities (pictured above) include a playground, swimming pool, and a pavilion with picnic tables and grills, located in the southwest corner of the development at 21111 Idlewood Trl.
