About Meadowood in Strongsville

Meadowood is a master-planned swim and tennis community of 847 single-family and detached cluster homes in northwest Strongsville Ohio, off Albion, Priem, and N Marks roads.

Meadowood’s 620 single-family homes were all constructed by renowned, award-winning developer/home builder, Bob Schmitt Homes. They were built beginning in 1976, with the final phase completed in 1995. Many homes have since been updated.

Facades include traditional and contemporary styles, most with Schmitt’s signature vertical cedar paneling.

Most Meadowood homes are ranches, but there are some colonial floorplans. They range from 1,700-4,400 square feet with 3-4 bedrooms and 2-2.5 bathrooms.

A pioneer in energy-efficient building, Bob Schmitt homes are predominantly all-electric (heat pumps, electric stoves, electric fireplaces). In recent years, some Meadowood homeowners have elected to convert to natural gas after the city installed main gas lines in the subdivision.

Inside, Meadowood homes are appointed with hardwood or LVP flooring, main floor laundry rooms with utility tubs and cabinets, kitchens with dinette areas, and open-concept formal dining & living space (some have vaulted ceilings and skylights) with floor-to-ceiling windows and to-the-ceiling stone/brick-faced fireplaces. Many homes have a second living/family room, private den and/or sunroom. Multiple sliders and oversized windows along the back of houses extend views of the backyard and/or courtyard. Spacious owner’s suites have walk-in closets and en-suite bathrooms with dual sinks/vanities, soaking tubs and/or walk-in showers. All foundations are slab-on-ground (no basements). Oversized front or side-entry garages accommodate 2-3 cars.

Outdoor living is enhanced by custom patios and/or decks.

Meadowood homesites are sized from 0.29 to 0.42 acres.

During development, Bob Schmitt preserved as many mature trees as possible so most homes have lightly treed to wooded yards, attracting songbirds and enhancing privacy and shade for significantly cooler al fresco enjoyment on hot summer days.

Many homes abut HOA-owned common area (yellow parcels within the red border on above map), extending open space or wooded views. Yellow parcels outside the red border are that of neighboring HOAs.

A concrete culvert carries a Rocky River West Branch watershed stream between Waterfall Rd and Rock Creek Cir (dashed blue line on above map). In recent years, the city has increased the culvert and worked to remove blockages in surrounding creeks and the emergency overflow system to reduce flooding of surrounding homes. Meadowood amenities include a rentable clubhouse with a full kitchen (150 person occupancy), an Olympic size pool, a wading pool with a mushroom spray fountain, a playground, two full-sized courts lined for tennis and pickleball, and a basketball court (lined at the east end of the parking lot). Neighborhood amenities located at 10901 Gate Post Rd.

Albion road runs east-west, and Priem Rd runs north-south, which separates Meadowood into northwest, northeast, and southeast sections.

The northwest section of Meadowood has two direct entrances: from Priem Rd via Beech Creek Trl, and from Albion Rd via Gate Post Rd. This section also encompasses the streets of Brookstone Way, Creek Bend Ct, Creek Moss Ln, Fence Row Dr, Meadowgrass Rd, Needlewood Cir, Pebble Brook Ln, Plum Brook Ln, Rock Creek Cir, Waterfall Rd, the southern end of Barton Dr (house numbers 8600 and higher), and three homes on Priem Rd. The northwest section adjoins a subdivision to the north, which has entrances off N Marks and Priem roads.

NOTE: Streets within the northwest section of the development are non-bussing streets, which are directly walkable to Surrarrer Elementary. Walkways to the school are off Barton Dr, Beech Creek Trl, and Priem Rd.

The northeast section has two direct entrances, both via Shagbark Trl, from Albion Rd or Priem Rd. In addition to Shagbark Trl, it includes the streets of Cedar Branch Trl, Little Brook Way, Maple Branch Trl, Sand Creek Cir, Shale Brook Way, and sections of Hickory Branch Trl (house numbers 21319 and higher), and Pine Needle Trl (house numbers 10326 to 10411). The northeast portion is connected to the subdivisions of Hickory Branch and Creekside, the latter of which has an entrance off Prospect Rd.

The entrance to the southeast sector is off Albion Rd via Shagbark Trl. It comprises the streets of Briar Bush Ln and Meadows Edge Ln, and Shagbark Trl house numbers 11391-11605. To the south on Shagbark Trl is the community of Westwood Farms. The subdivision of Still Meadow is to the west.

All Meadowood streets have curbs and sidewalks.

Per the Meadowood’s covenants and restrictions, oil drilling, wells, fracking, or mining operations of any kind are not permitted. As such, residents need not be concerned about such practices within the neighborhood.

Residences are served by Strongsville City School District.

Homeowner’s Association (HOA) fees for Meadowood single-family homes are approximately $475 annually.

Meadowood is in northwest Strongsville, off Albion Rd, Priem Rd, and N Marks Rd. 

Highways are accessible in 12 min to I-80/Turnpike and 14 min to I-71.

SouthPark Mall and Strongsville’s bustling retail sector is just a 12-min drive.

The Ehrnfelt Recreation and Senior Center is a 12-min drive, offering residents a pool, sauna, steam room and whirlpool, massage therapy, ball courts, indoor elevated track, weight and exercise room, and game area with pool tables, ping pong, video games, air hockey and more.

As for parks, Strongsville has nine city parks with ball courts/fields, playgrounds, picnic areas, pavilions, and trails.

There’s also the Metroparks less than 10 min away, where visitors can engage in hiking, horseback riding, archery, ziplining, axe throwing, and tobogganing at The Chalet on the tallest, fastest toboggan ice chutes in Ohio.

Golfers are 8-12 min from Columbia Hills, Hickory Nut, Mallard Creek and Royal Crest.
