Red Tail in Avon Ohio is a prestigious, master-planned golf course community. Nestled among the manicured greens are custom-built, luxury homes of varying style and design.
The luxury homes at Red Tail were built beginning in the late 1990s, with the final remaining homesites being built upon today. The community includes homes built by Buckingham Homes, Drees, Greco Homes, Hearth, Petros Homes, Sareth Builders, and Surest Homes.
Red Tail luxury omes range in size from 1,700 square feet up to an impressive 7,000 square feet. Colonial, ranch and cape cod style homes are available in a variety of different facades including European, stately brick, modern farmhouse, and contemporary cottage.
The homes at Red Tail are divided into two sections, the main community to the west of Nagel Road, and a smaller subdivision to the east of Nagel. The main community (west of Nagel) has three entrances: St Maron Blvd off Jaycox Road, as well as Via San Angelo Dr and Saint Francis Dr off Nagel Rd. This section of Red Tail encompasses the additional streets of Saint Francis Ct, Royal Saint George Dr, Saint Sharbel Ct, Silver Oak Dr, Doral Dr, Crown Colony Dr, Vilamoura Dr, Saint Joseph Way, Via San Angelo Ct, Bellerive Way and Laurel Way. This subdivision is connected to the neighboring community of Summer Hill via Winter Brook Dr off Saint Francis Dr.
The smaller subdivision east of Nagel has two entrances: Reserve Way At St Andrews and Lyons Gate Run. This section of Red Tail also encompasses the streets of Queens Gate, Saint Annes Ct, Saint Theresa Blvd, Khouri Ct, Restivo Cir, Saint Anthony Dr, Samuel James Way, Santa Marie Ct and San Antonio Way. This subdivision of Red Tail is connected to the neighboring community of St James Woods via Saint Theresa Blvd.
There are curbs and sidewalks on both sides of the streets throughout Red Tail.
Red Tail is Avon’s only golf course community. It’s exclusive luxury living at its best centered around family. Residents enjoy a plethora of resort-style amenities: a beautifully renovated 20,000 square foot clubhouse with weekly events, full-service indoor/outdoor dining, a Pro Shop, fitness center, locker rooms, tennis courts, a 25-meter outdoor swimming pool as well as a children’s pool, Boccé courts and even fire pits.
The golf course was named after the Red Tail hawks that can be spotted around the course. What once was flat farmland, has been sculpted into a magnificent 400 acre, 18-hole championship golf course. The course was created by the renowned Robert Von Hagge – one of the world’s top course designers. The par 72 course has an overall rating of 74.5 and a slope rating of 131.
Homeowners are required to hold either a social membership ($175.00 monthly fee) or golf membership (approximately $475.00 per month), as well as a $100.00 per month food and beverage minimum. Homeowners’ Association (HOA) fee is $400.00 annually.

Red Tail is located south of Detroit Road, off of Jaycox and Lear Nagle roads, in the desirable southeast corner of Avon. This is a quiet, residential area of single-family home subdivisions nestled amongst parks, golf courses and pastures.
The community is ideally situated 2.5 miles south of I-90 – far enough to evade traffic noise, but accessible within 10 minutes.
Schwartz Park and Miller Nature Preserve are just two of the neighboring parks serving your recreational needs. Schwartz Park encompasses 67.8 acres with ball fields/courts, a playground, nature trails, and pavilions with picnic tables and grills. Miller Nature Preserve has hiking trails, a seasonal butterfly house, and a 5,000-square-foot conservatory featuring orchids and various plant specimens from around the world. There’s also a visitor center with a gift shop, café, event hall, and an outdoor patio that hosts weekly music events during summertime. Come winter, the community center hosts art, cooking and card-making classes.
There’s also the French Creek YMCA, a state-of-the-art, 6,000+ square-foot facility featuring an eight-lane indoor pool, aerobics studio, family gym, sauna, whirlpool, wellness center and child-care center.
Catch a minor league baseball game at Avon’s Crushers Stadium, home of the Lake Erie Crushers. On rainy days, you’ll find indoor entertainment for the whole family at Main Event, offering state-of-the-art bowling; more than 110 of the hottest interactive and video games; multi-level laser tag; regulation billiards and relaxing shuffleboard; and a bar & restaurant. There’s also Play: CLE, a 25,000 square foot indoor active entertainment center for all ages.
Aside from Red Tail’s course, there are a number of other golf courses nearby: 8 min to Bob-O-Link Golf Course, 12 min to Sweetbriar and Hilliard Lakes, 17 min to Springvale and Valley of the Eagles Golf Club, and 23 min to Cherry Ridge Golf Course.
If you desire a day at the beach, Huntington Reservation on Lake Erie is less than 20 minutes away.
Just north of the community is Yummy Grapes vineyard, family-owned and operated for over 70 years, selling a variety of delicious grapes like Concord and Niagra.
Nearby shopping and dining options are plentiful. You’re only 10 minutes from banking, shops & restaurants of Avon Commons: Costco, Heinen’s grocery, GNC, Target, Kohl’s, Walmart, Home Depot, World Market, Michael’s, Marshall’s, Old Navy, Bath & Body Works, Famous Footwear, Panera, IHOP, Friday’s, Applebee’s. The 75-acre, open-air collection of restaurants, retail, entertainment & leisure at Crocker Park is just 12 minutes away.
There are some excellent Avon restaurants like Nemo Grille, Avon Brewing Company, Heck’s of Avon for burgers, In Forno for Neapolitan pizza, Kelsey Elizabeth Cakes for macarons, Veranda Bistro & Bar, and my personal favorite, Strip Steakhouse (I recommend the “Flip Flop” cold lobster salad, and any of the steaks accompanied with Gruyère Mac and Cheese and Bourbon Creamed Corn).
Lake Ridge Academy, an esteemed K-12 co-educational college preparatory school in the neighboring suburb of North Ridgeville is 15 min away.
