River Woods Estates is a premier community in Hinckley, Ohio of roughly 26 luxury homes situated on sloping heavily wooded lots with an adjacent nature preserve. This subdivision is located off the north side of Center Rd, 0.2 miles west of River Rd, and comprises the streets of River Woods Dr, River Ridge Oval, and the private drive, Holt Ln.
Homes were custom-built between 1990-2022. Each home was individually designed and custom-built by builders including Scholz Design.
These one-of-a-kind homes include ranch, cape cod and colonial styles that range from 4,500-9,800 square feet with 4-8 bedrooms and 3.5-6.5 bathrooms.
Homes are loaded with premium finishes and elegant details including open floorplans, hardwood flooring, custom architectural millwork, solid-core doors, heated floors, zoned temperature control, custom ceilings, dramatic two-story foyers with open staircases, mudrooms with benches and storage, and large laundry rooms with utility tubs and cabinets, formal dining rooms with butler’s pantry, formal living rooms and/or private dens with built-ins, and two-story/vaulted great rooms with fireplaces and floor-to-ceiling windows that open to large kitchens featuring expansive quartz or granite countertops, tile backsplash, breakfast bar, walk-in pantry, top-of-the-line appliances, beverage bar/buffet, dinette area, and morning room or sunroom. First or second-floor owner’s suites include sitting areas, large walk-in closets with built-ins, and spa-like baths with custom tiled walk-in showers, soaking tubs, dual sinks/vanities, and enclosed commodes. Finished lower levels (many are coveted walk-outs!) are complete with media or theater rooms, kitchens/kitchenettes, bars, wine cellars, and exercise rooms. Winding or circular drives lead to side-entry garages that accommodate 3-4 cars. Some also have an additional detached garage/carriage house.

The first few homes on the east side of River Woods Dr abut the 30-acre River Woods Nature Preserve (green parcel on map above), which has a ¾ mile loop trail through shrub, brush and woodlands.
The entrance street of River Woods Dr is flanked by landscaped beds with stacked stone signage. In the center of the street is a landscaped median. On either side of the street are mature pines, providing privacy to the front of the community.
As with most Hinckley developments, there are no curbs or sidewalks. The cul-de-sacs of River Woods Dr and River Ridge Oval have landscaped islands.
Homeowner’s Association (HOA) fees at River Woods Estates are approximately $450 annually.
This neighborhood is served by the highly-rated Highland Local School District along with bussing to St. Albert the Great School and the prestigious Old Trail School. Hinckley Elementary is just west of the subdivision off Ridge Rd.

River Woods Estates is located in north-central Hinckley, Ohio, off the north side of Center Rd, just west of River Rd.
Downtown Brunswick is just 11 min west with Home Depot, Marc’s Starbucks, GNC, UPS, Giant Eagle grocery, banking, dining and more.
Highways are accessible in 7 min to I-71 and I-271, 11 min to I-77, and 14 min to I-80/Turnpike.
The Metroparks’ Hinckley Reservation is only a 3 min drive with 2,803 acres including twenty miles of all-purpose trails, bridle trails, a 90-acre lake (Hinckley Lake) with a boathouse for water sport rentals, a beach, swimming pool, two smaller fishing ponds also used for ice fishing and skating come winter, stone carvings at Worden’s Ledges, and its most notable feature–the porous sandstone outcroppings of Whipp’s Ledges. Hinckley Reservation is also home to the annual festival known as Buzzard’s Day, which celebrates the return of the turkey vulture to the area around mid-March. The Metroparks’ Mill Stream Run Reservation is 14 min away with trails, rope courses and zip lines, as well as The Chalet, which has two toboggan chutes that are open in the winter. Cuyahoga Valley National Park is 15 min away with 33,000-acres including the Cuyahoga River and numerous waterfalls, the 87-mile Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail, and the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad.
This is a prime location for golfers with only 9 min to Pine Hills, 7 min to Valleaire and Ironwood, 6 min to Hinckley Hills, 11 min to Briarwood, and 14 min to Seneca Golf Course. If you’re looking for social membership and golf, St. Bernard Golf Club is 5 min, Weymouth Country Club is 14 min, and Pleasant Valley Country Club is 15 min away.
