About The Rose of Sharon
The Rose of Sharon is an upscale community of approximately 30 custom-built million-dollar luxury homes on 2.4+-acre homesites in Sharon Township of Wadsworth, Ohio (Medina County). This development encompasses three unconnected single-street subdivisions located 0.3 to 0.5 miles west of State Rd, off the north and south sides of Ridgewood Rd, comprising the streets of Fairfield Ln, Moorhouse Dr, and Penwood Dr.
Fun fact: Just east of Fairfield Ln is one of the most significant archeological sites of prehistoric Native Americans in North America. Excavations uncovered thousands of artifacts from an early Paleoindian settlement, the likely first human inhabitants of northern Ohio. The Paleo Crossing site is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Phase 1 homes on Moorehouse Dr were constructed beginning in 1999. Phase 2, along Penwood Dr, began construction in 2001. Construction of Phase 3 homes on Fairfield Ln began in 2006.
The captious homes in Rose of Sharon range from 4,100-12,000 square feet with 4-6 bedrooms and 3.5-6.5 bathrooms.
Homes were individually designed and custom-built by builders including KNL Custom Homes and Steven Moore Custom Homes.
Facades include a variety of architectural styles including contemporary, traditional, French country, and modern farmhouse designs that make for an interesting streetscape.
Inside, homes are appointed with hardwood or LVP flooring, extensive trimwork, specialty ceilings (coffered, vaulted, beamed), turned staircases with iron balusters, grand formal dining rooms, sitting rooms, executive dens with rich wood paneling and/or built-ins, and large mud rooms/laundry rooms with built-in sinks and cabinets. Large two-story or vaulted great rooms with fireplaces are open to kitchens featuring granite or quartz countertops, tile backsplash, center islands with breakfast bar, a walk-in pantry, dinette area, and even hearth rooms or 4-season rooms. Owner’s suites include sitting areas, large walk-in closets, and spa-like bathrooms with tiled walk-in showers, soaking tubs, dual sinks/vanities, and enclosed lavatories. Finished lower levels (some are coveted walkouts!) are complete with media rooms, bars, kitchenettes, billiard rooms, wine cellars and tasting rooms, and/or exercise rooms.
Rose of Sharon homes have well water and septic tanks.
Side or rear-entry garages accommodate 3-4 cars. Some homes also have detached garages for additional vehicles.
Backyards feature professional landscaping, patios and/or covered porches with cedar-beamed ceilings, fire pits, and even in-ground pools.
Homesites are sized between 2.4 and 14.9 acres.
Lots are either lightly treed or partially to fully wooded.
With 100′ setbacks, sweeping foregrounds with plenteous trees and long winding/circular drives offer privacy from the street.
Streets are lined with charming split-rail fencing and abundant mature trees.
Each street ends in a permanent cul-de-sac.
True to country living, as with most Wadsworth subdivisions, there are no curbs or sidewalks.
Post is conveniently delivered to mailboxes at the end of each driveway.
As independent single-street subdivisions, traffic is limited to residents and their guests.
Several small streams meander near the south ends of Moorehouse Dr and Penwood Dr, offering rolling topography. View FEMA Flood Map.
Two homes along the southern end of Moorhouse Drive’s cul-de-sac (house numbers 5930 & 5931) and 6001 Penwood Dr abut a wooded section of The Sharon Golf Club.
Residences are served by the highly-rated Highland Local School District along with bussing to St. Albert the Great School and the prestigious Old Trail School.
