About Astor Place Luxury Townhomes in Rocky River
Located in northeast Rocky River Ohio, just blocks away from downtown River and a lakefront park, are the luxury townhomes of Astor Place. Within the coveted Beachcliff II neighborhood permitting private beach access! This community of 32 townhomes was built by King James Residential between 2003-2005.
Townhomes are arranged as two single-standing units and six groups of 5-unit rows.
Facades are traditionally styled with brick and stucco.
Astor Place townhouses mainly range from 2,600-3,200 square feet with 2-4 bedrooms and 2.5-4 bathrooms. There are also two single-standing townhomes with 4-car garages that are sized from 7,000-7,300 square feet with 4-5 bedrooms and 3.5-4.5 bathrooms.
There were several floorplans from which to personalize that may include hardwood fooring, pocket offices or private dens, open-concept layouts, two-story fireplaced great rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows, fomal dining rooms or areas, and kitchens with granite countertops, breakfast bars, pantry, and dinette. First or second floor owner’s suites feature sitting areas (select models), walk-in closets and en-suite bathrooms with dual sinks, soaking/jetted tubs and/or tiled walk-in showers, and enclosed commodes. Second floors may offer large lofts. The walk-out lower level has glass doors to a sunken English courtyard surrounded by brick walls topped by wrought iron fencing. This level may also offer a living area, bathroom, bedroom, and/or exercise area. Laundry rooms with a utility tub, cabinets and folding stations are also located on the lower level. Garages accommodate 2 cars (or 4 cars for standalone units).
Homesites are sized at 0.3 or 0.4 acres. The two standalone units have lots measuring 0.8 acres.
Townhomes are surrounded by HOA-owned common space (yellow areas on above map), much of it lined with mature trees.
The community encompasses the street of the same name, Astor Place, which is off the south side of Lake Rd, a half-mile east of Wagar Rd.
The main entrance to Astor Pl is flanked on either side by lantern-topped brick pillars with decorative wrought iron gates.
Fun fact: The stone knee-wall across from the Astor Pl entrance that extends eastward along the north side of Lake Rd once bordered the original estate of Daniel Eells–one of two men who once owned nearly all the lakefront property in Rocky River.
Astor Place is also accessible from Detroit Rd via Smith Ct.
Directly west is the bungalow community of Beach Cliff Manor.
Residences are served by the top-rated Rocky River City School District.
NOTE: This community includes non-bussing streets to the city’s Kensington Intermediate School (≤3 min bike, 6 min walk), Middle School (≤4 min bike, 13 min walk), and High School (≤5 min bike, 20 min walk).
Residences are within Beachcliff II neighborhood, part of the Beachcliff Trust Association, granting access to the private Wagar and Parklawn beaches (additional dues of roughly $35 annually)!
Homeowner’s Association (HOA) fees at Astor Place are approximately $415 monthly, which include landscaping and snow & trash removal.

Other nearby city parks include Elmwood Park (3 min drive) with a baseball field, a playground, and a pavilion; the lakefront Bradstreet’s Landing Park (5 min drive), which recently underwent a 600-foot pier renovation; and Reese Park (6 min drive) with a playground, basketball and tennis/pickleball courts, and a baseball field.
The Metroparks’ Rocky River Reservation, 1 mile east, offers 2,520 acres with picnic areas, play areas, sledding hills, ball fields, nature trails, paved trails, nature center, stables and bridle trails, marina, fishing areas, boat rentals, waterfalls and lagoons, and three golf courses. Fitness enthusiasts will appreciate being a 5 min drive or 9 min bike its Valley Parkway All-Purpose Trail, which extends down to Mill Stream Run Reservation and over to the 81-mile Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail.
The premier dining and social club, The Clifton Club (3 min drive) has a 3-story historic clubhouse surrounded by manicured grounds and a private beach with tennis courts, a playground and a lakefront venue.
Boaters are a 4 min drive from The Cleveland Yachting Club (CYC) – one of the oldest and most prestigious yachting clubs in the nation. Home to more than 300 sail and powerboats, CYC is known for its beautiful setting, first-class facilities and family-friendly atmosphere. CYC is located on its own island at the mouth of Rocky River, nine miles west of downtown Cleveland.
