About West Rim Reserve in Columbia Station

West Rim Reserve is a bucolic single-street community of 17 homes with abutting parkland and the Rocky River in Columbia Station, Ohio. This subdivision encompasses the cul-de-sac street of W Rim Dr, located off the east side of W River Rd, just north of Nichols Rd.

Homes were constructed between 1995-2001.

The two-story homes of West Rim Reserve mainly range from 3,500-7,500 square feet with 3-6 bedrooms and 3-5.5+ bathrooms. 

Facades are traditionally styled.

Amenities include hardwood flooring, two-story foyers with turned staircases, private dens with glass paneled french doors, formal dining rooms with tray ceilings, laundry rooms with cabinets and utility tubs, and fireplaced great rooms (many are two-story) that are open to kitchens with granite or quartz countertops, breakfast bar seating, walk-in pantry, butler’s pantry, dinette area, and even sunrooms. Owner’s suites (most are first floor) offer tray ceilings, walk-in closets, and en suite bathrooms with walk-in showers, soaking/jetted tubs, dual sinks/vanities, and enclosed commodes. Lower levels (some are coveted walkouts!) are an entertainer’s delight with bars, kitchens, media rooms, billiard rooms, wine cellars, and/or gyms. Attached garages (most are side-entry) accommodate 3-4 cars.

Homes have septic systems and public water.

Outdoor living is complete with decks and/or patios, covered living areas, outdoor fireplaces or and fire pits.

Homesites range from 0.99 to a sprawling 11.91 acres.

Most lots are cleared with a line of trees along the rear property line; others have treed backyards.

Numerous homesites sit along a ridge of scenic sloping terrain.

A small stream (dashed blue line on above map) flows along five properties on the south end of the development. The Rocky River flows along the property line of six lots, offering on-site fishing and wildlife viewing. View FEMA Flood Map.

The south end of this subdivision abuts 130+ acres owned by the Lorain County Metro Parks, adding to the sylvan setting with endless views of nature. As of mid-2025, the parkland (designated in green on above map) was yet undeveloped.

The entrance to W Rim Dr is flanked by landscaped beds with brick signage walls. The front of the development is bordered by white split-rail fencing.

W Rim Dr has lantern-style street lights and a landscaped cul-de-sac island. True to country living, there are no curbs or sidewalks.

This single-street community is not connected to any other subdivision so traffic is limited to residents and their guests.

Residences are served by Columbia Local School District.

Homeowner’s Association (HOA) fees at West Rim Reserve are approximately $189 annually.

Comparable nearby communities include Castlebar Court (to the south on W River Rd).

The development of West Rim Reserve is located in northeast Columbia Station near the border of Strongsville, off the east side of W River Rd, roughly 400′ north of Nichols Rd.

Highways are accessible in 13 min to I-80/Turnpike, 14 min to I-480, and 16 min to I-71.

SouthPark Mall and Strongsville’s bustling retail sector is a 15-min drive.

There are plenty of nearby recreational opportunities. The city’s Columbia Township Park (3 min drive) is home to ball fields, tennis and basketball courts, a volleyball court, horseshoe pits, pavilions, a playground, and a walking path. The park also hosts various events year-round. You are 5 min from Lorain County Metro Parks’ Columbia Reservation with 425 acres characterized by open scenic views transversed by The Rocky River, numerous lakes and ponds, kayak/canoe access, 4 miles of trails, a playground, 18-hole mini-golf course, picnic shelters, a pizzeria & ice cream parlor, and an outdoor movie theatre. It’s 13 min to Cleveland Metroparks’ Mill Stream Run Reservation with extensive trails, Wallace Lake and beach, rope courses and zip lines, as well as The Chalet, which has two toboggan chutes that are open in the winter. 

Swings-N-Things Fun Park is 11 minutes away – offering 13 acres of indoor and outdoor fun including two go-kart tracks, two 18-hole miniature golf courses, bumper boats, batting cages, indoor playground, a two-story game room, paintball, and homemade ice cream.

Columbia Station has three public 18-hole courses — Creekwood, Hickory Nut, and Royal Crest — as well as a 36-hole course at Mallard Creek.

If you are looking for private club membership, the country club of Columbia Hills (7 min drive) has catered to the area’s residents since 1929.
