About Homestead of Independence
Homestead of Independence (aka Homestead) is a premier community of 31 custom-built homes in central Independence Ohio, less than a half-mile from trails leading to Cuyahoga Valley National Park. The development is located off the west side of Brecksville Rd, comprising the streets of Acres Dr, Hunting Ln and Rosewood Cir.
Homestead homes were constructed from 1996-2004 by builders including Sherwood Homes.
Most facades are traditionally styled as stately full brick. Some homes boast complete brick surround.
These colonial homes range from 4,000-8,500 square feet with 3-6 bedrooms and 3.5-5 bathrooms.
Homes are appointed with desirable amenities including two-story foyers with turned or curved staircases, ceramic tile and hardwood flooring, formal dining rooms with tray ceilings, private dens and/or formal living rooms, laundry rooms with cabinets and utility tubs, vaulted or two-story great rooms with fireplaces, and spacious kitchens with granite or quartz countertops, tile backsplash, a center island, buffet area, breakfast bar seating, and vaulted or bayed dinette area. Owner’s suites (most are first-floor) include walk-in closets and en-suite baths with custom tiled walk-in showers, soaking/jetted tubs, dual sinks/vanities, and enclosed commodes. Finished lower levels are complete with media rooms, kitchenettes, bars, wine cellars, exercise and storage rooms. Attached side-entry garages accommodate 3-4 cars.
Living is extended outdoors with professionally designed gardens, custom patios and/or composite decks, water features, and fireplaces or fire pits.
Homesites are sized from 0.48 to 1.25 acres and nearly every backyard is treed.
Directly north of the Acres Dr cul-de-sac are wooded parcels owned by the city totaling 3 acres.
The entrance to Acres Dr has a divided median with brick pavers, flower beds, saplings and signage.
Its streets are enhanced with street trees, lantern-style streetlights, curbs, sidewalks, and cul-de-sacs with paver surround islands.
There are no Homeowner’s Association (HOA) fees at Homestead of Independence.
This neighborhood is served by the top-rated Independence Local School District.

The subdivision of Homestead of Independence, also called Homestead, is located in central Independence Ohio, off the west side of Brecksville Rd, 0.4 miles north of Hillside Rd.
Access to highways is convenient with just 5 min to I-77, 8 min to I-480, and 12 min to I-80/Turnpike.
Independence Primary, Middle, and High Schools are all within a 3 min drive. There are also a number of nearby private schools including Bethany Lutheran, Lawrence School, Padua, Parma Heights Christian Academy, St Albert the Great, St Michael, and Trinity High School.
