Cleveland Custom Builders & Remodeling Is Renovating Another Home For Tax Abatement
Tony Kucia with Cleveland Custom Builders and Remodeling just checking out a renovation that we’ve got in process in Edgewater (Cleveland, OH) and just want to give an update on what’s going on.
Rehab Lake Rd Edgewater Neighborhood Cleveland OH
So CLE Custom Builders & Remodeling stripped down all the walls, pulled most of the electrical, pulled most of the plumbing, and most of the HVAC. CLE Custom Builders & Remodeling tried to keep things as clean as possible. As you can see, we found some hardwood floors. We will sand and recoat these and blend in some areas to make Edgewater Rehab look sweet here.
Improving the layout of the Rehab in Edgewater
Existing kitchen location. And we’re going to actually extend the back of the house out four feet, add a little she-shed to the back, replace some new cabinetry, wraps around with a big island in here. This staircase comes out, and gets relocated to the front. And this becomes a, half wall railing that looks down into the basement cuz the basement stairs kick you down right here.
This is the garage remains. So as we come in the garage right here, change the hand in the garage door swings to here. Little mud station here and we’ll add a bench with hooks. So as we then enter the kitchen, you’ve got countertops and cabinets going out and, like I said, another four feet, little entry to a future pantry utility closet. And she-shed in the back, cabinets, and countertop.
Opening Up The Floor Plan In The Edgewater Rehab
Now, this is where it gets more interesting. All this comes wide open. CLE Custom Builders & Remodeling dropped some heavy support beams coming from a support column here all the way over and four feet over off the shoulder of this fireplace. Another beam. And we’re gonna do some cool-looking beams in between here. This whole area from this four feet over just all comes out.
So as you enter, remember I said the relocation of the stairs. So we’re gonna enter from the front porch here. The current location of the front door goes away. We’re gonna enter a, a front door right here, door swings open. You have a sidelight, and you’re gonna have a set of stairs that start right about here, takes you up to a landing, takes you up turns, it takes you up to the second-floor balcony this Edgewater Rehab will provide. It’s overlooking the first floor, with the idea of tying in this fireplace and that nice baby grand piano and such.
Edgewater Rehab Gets A True Owners Suite
So then we’re taking these existing two bedrooms that were gutted, gutted bathroom, and this is gonna become the first-floor owners suite. So as we enter, we’ll enter the master suite right here. As we enter the suite here, we’re actually going to be outside the suite because the door going into the bedroom is going to be here. You’re gonna walk as you walk around the bedroom and come into here. You’ll have a washer and dryer just for the owner’s suite right here. A large closet that goes back, starting here with shelving on each side.
And then a master bathroom that’s right here. The big soaking tub on the angle, little bench seat. We’re gonna have an intermediate wall here for vanities. And then this former entry foyer becomes a huge walk-in shower.
Okay, now you’re probably wondering, well, what about this space right here because you’re gonna come in the bedroom this way? That’s a good question. So right in this area, we will add a half bath. So it’ll be a sink and a toilet. So that way, as we go around the space again, we encompass that location so that way you have a half bath for guests to use on the first floor. So as we get upstairs, kind of a simple task, what we’re doing, as I said, the new stair locations over there. So this stair comes out. So as you in the kitchen, you see this opening. You’re not going to feel enclosed.
Edgewater Rehab 2nd Floor Reconfigured
You have a wider kitchen which opens it up. So as I’m starting to enter here, so I have it make more sense. So just to give you an idea of location and space compared to the first floor, that’s where the new front door is down here. This is all opened up. So right here, so this is all gonna be looking down into the first-floor area. And then here’s your cat-walk across here. So your railing’s right here looking down. So I come over here right about this point here where the top of the stairs hit. So I walk up, up, up, I come up, up, up. I stop here. There’s gonna be a wall here.
Secret Rooms Are Possible With This Edgewater Rehab
This wall has a door that swings open. And this is a bedroom. So there’s bedroom number two. We’re gonna do something really fancy here. We’ll have a hidden door in this bedroom with a bookshelf. And as you push that bookshelf in, CLE Custom Builders & Remodeling is going to header off this in here. The client’s gonna have a make this a fort area or a secret fort area for her two grandchildren, with a new operable window.
So as we come out of this bedroom, as I said right here, we get to the top of the stairs, we’re gonna wall off this area from here to about down here. This toilet gives you an idea, not this particular toilet, but in general. So we’re going to walk into this bathroom. The door’s gonna be somewhere right about here. It swings open as you get into here. You shut the door. Here’s a big shower. We’re gonna have a vanity and a vanity and offset right here. And it’s own little cubby will be the toilet. So then you get up off the toilet, wash your hands, open a door, and come out into the catwalk. Walk through here. This is coming out. It’s gonna be a nice little seating area here, overlooking the balcony for a little hangout area.
And then you get into this other bedroom. We step down as we get into the bedroom and because we happen to be over the garage here. So this bedroom, which will be used for her as a sewing room, her hobby, will have a nice cedar closet here that remains. And we took special care, just like we would on your project, and maintained this integrity to be used in the future. And we’re gonna build some hidden little closets in here so the client can push her sewing tables in there and pull them out as needed while you still utilize a guest room for friends and family to come to visit.
Well, that’s it for today, thanks for spending some time.
